Shop-floor execution

Release, advance, inspect, and complete in-house builds

The Builds board runs approved work through the shop with a locked recipe, issued materials, reserved tools, progress history, and explicit quality checks.

12 minute guide Production leads and shop-floor operators

After this guide

Operators can advance work without skipping required stages, and every move records completion and useful production context.

1. Confirm the build can be released

Production receives approved work from Orders or another authorized demand source; it does not decide customer sourcing.

  1. 1

    Open the build ticket

Select a board card to see the source order, quantity, due date, station, customization, and current status.

    Open Builds
  2. 2

    Confirm the locked recipe

The build preserves the approved recipe version used for planning even if a newer version is created later.

  3. 3

    Review the material issue sheet

Every required quantity must be available. A shortage moves or keeps the work in Blocked rather than allowing an unsafe release.

  4. 4

    Review the tool plan

Confirm required equipment is available for the planned duration and resolve conflicts in Resource capacity.

  5. 5

    Read customer instructions

Customization from the order stays on the build ticket so engraving, color, size, or other requirements reach the operator.

2. Advance work through the board

Cards move one stage at a time to protect materials, work, and quality controls.

  1. 1

    Choose drag or ticket action

Drag a card one lane to the right for a quick update, or open the build ticket and use its primary action.

  2. 2

    Confirm the proposed move

The confirmation dialog explains the current and next status. A card cannot skip directly across required stages.

  3. 3

    Set completion percentage

Record real progress, not only the status label. This keeps Home and the selected ticket useful between handoffs.

  4. 4

    Add a progress comment

Record what finished, what remains, defects, rework, material substitutions, or information the next operator needs.

  5. 5

    Finalize the move

Confirm to append the status history and move the card. Cancel leaves the build unchanged.

3. Handle blocked work

A blocked build should point to the operational fact that must change before production can continue.

  1. 1

    Identify the blocker

Use the issue sheet for material shortages and the tool plan for capacity or equipment conflicts.

  2. 2

    Resolve material shortages in Inventory

Receive stock, correct a balance, transfer stock, or complete a reorder. Do not mark the build ready just to clear the board.

    Review shortages
  3. 3

    Resolve capacity conflicts

Review station and tool load, move the schedule, or select an approved alternate resource.

    Open Resource capacity
  4. 4

    Return to Ready

Once the evidence is valid, confirm the move and leave a comment explaining the resolution.

4. Inspect and complete

Quality is a required production state, not an optional note added after completion.

  1. 1

    Move finished work to Quality

Confirm production steps are complete and record the final shop-floor progress note.

  2. 2

    Compare against recipe evidence

Use the recipe version’s images and quality notes to evaluate finish, dimensions, color, defects, or other expected output.

  3. 3

    Record defects or rework

Do not complete a failed item. Capture the issue and return it to the appropriate production state when rework is required.

  4. 4

    Complete the build

Confirm accepted quantity and final context. Completed production becomes finished stock ready for the order handoff.

Every drag opens confirmation

The modal is the audit point for percentage and comments. The card does not move until the operator finalizes it.

No skipped work

Builds advance one stage at a time. Material blocks and quality checks cannot be bypassed by dragging farther across the board.
